Thank you for your comment! Yes, there are plenty of odd things he recommends. If you enjoyed it keep going to the Eclogues and the poems in the Appendix Vergiliana—there’s a poem in the latter collection that describes how to make a cheese called moretum. It’s quite tasty.
I read Virgil's Georgics for the first time this spring. It is very beautiful, but I did think some of it strange advice.
